Give it a month ... Just like after the European launch PS3 fans have jumped on the sales data as a sign of a long term trend; it isn't!

In a month or so we will see how much momentiume the PS3 really has.

It doesn't matter if let's say in a month the PS3 levels drop they will still be higher than what they were before because of the games that will start coming out start mid August.

Even if the PS3 sales don't stay at 40k a week, they won't go back to 15k for the rest of the year mosts likely because of upcoming games and the holiday season.

I could be wrong, but I don't see the PS3 performing drastically better than it was before the price cut ...

The PS3 faces the exact same problem the XBox 360 does; it doesn't matter what kind of hardware you have or the extra functionality, the average (median or mean) console owner sees a console as being worth about $200. The PS3 could have Resident Evil 5, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Solid 4, Kingdom Hearts 3, Halo 3, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Galaxy and any game you can think of in a 6 month period and it will still perform reasonably poorly because most gamers will not spend $500 on a console.
