I would use Eternal Sonata as the metric for this games success. I would say Eternal Sonata is somewhere just north of three hundred thousand units sold worldwide by this point, and given the fact that I have not seen that title on display in a good long time. I suspect that Tales will probably only see a limited production run. I suspect the title may sell four hundred thousand.

Japan 120,000
North America 250,000
Others 30,000

I also suspect the title will have longer legs, but make shorter strides. Given that other Role Playing games are releasing in the same time frame. Too Human, Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Sacred 2, and Rise of the Argonauts. This means the title will probably be seeing some steady traction next spring as players exhaust the holiday selection. However in the near term it will not bode well for the title. Especially since the other titles are far more mature. Which will make them peak sooner in North America.
