Then you never paid much attention to square. As someone who has paid attention to them since their NES games... money is all they've ever cared about.
You favor Sony so i can see why you wouldn't of noticed... but during the PS1 and PS2 eras they were buying and absorbing studios left and right, breaking them up destroying franchises and moving people around.
Square is the EA of Japan.
