Anyway, Tretton's "4 million behind 360" comment was very misleading. The only way I can see he worked that out was by comparing unannounced PS3 shipments through this quarter to announced 360 shipments through the previous quarter and rounding down a number that should have been rounded up.

I think someone else speculated he was using Sony's old "produced consoles" figures... I haven't read it myself but there was something about how much the inventory (PS3s Sony has produced but not shipped) has decreased from last year, adn as we know both figures last year (5.5 million produced and 3.69? were shipped).

So Tretton was adding PS3 inventory onto the 14.41, which comes out just under 4.5 million behind 360s 20.3mil.
