Screen burn is a myth. Yeah, if you're dumb enough to leave the pause screen up for 10 hours a day, you're going to get "burned"...

To prevent burn, it's simple. Don't leave your TV with the same image displaying for over an hour. The pixels are also more likely to be damaged in the first 150-250 hours of their life when they are "newest". If you're really concerned, lower your contrast below 50%. You may experience what's known as "ghosting", but it's nothing to be alarmed about.

Go to a retailer. Have them turn off a plasma. It's been running on the same loop for God knows how long! I guarantee you you wont see screen burn.

As for longevity, a typical plasma has a half-life of about 30,000-50,000 hours. That's 8 hours a day for 9 years minimum.

...and again, I implore you to visit a retailer and compare their HD loop on the two types of televisions.
