Smart move from MS. By tempting games into playing online on "weaker" games, its a real incentive for them to join Gold to play online for ALL games.
Also helps boost sales of specific titles.
(be a bit sucky if you buy the Windows version, and can play online for free - but buy the 360 version and NOT do the same).
MS will NOT make XBL FREE. Its too much of a money cow for them - they have no desire to lose $200-$400m (US) cash per year.
