After the Big Crunch, the Big Rip, or even the death of our Sun, gaming will be the least of humanity's worries :)
All mammals play, we humans are just so advanced that our form of playing has evolved into video games from 'hitting each other with your paw' which was popular with our ancestors 10 million years ago. Thus, gaming will be around as long as humans are around.
