Have any other systems had improved software because of poor sales?

Has any other system had such bad software sales and such good hardware sales? The PSP defies historical conventions, Negative Nancy :P

Plus, I never said software was going to get better. I said we'll see less bad games, which will focus consumer attention more toward the few good games that are coming out. This in turn will mean those few games will have a better shot at selling well, which could attract a few more devs to bring games to the system.

Most likely those devs won't be able to get support from western publishers b/c their games have done so badly. But you could see more indy devs pitching ideas to Sony. The other possibility is that we see more Japanese games b/c of the PSP's resurgence in Japan. What those Japanese publishers will have to realize, however, is that they're not going to see good sales over here at $40/game.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
