While I do agree with you, doesn't that strategy seem a bit.....nostalgic? Didn't Nintendo pretty much adopted that kind of strategy during the N64 and Gamecube days? That didn't seem to go too well....

 

There's a difference.  In the N64/GC days, Nintendo had almost no 3rd party support at all.  They relied almost solely on their own internal titles.  With the ps3, Sony still has plenty of 3rd party support in the form of multiplats, and it's up to the 1st party titles to simply differentiate their console from the 360.
