Well Pioneer has announced they will stop manufacturing their own Plasma panels and use Panasonic ones.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned: As the phosphor in Plasma TVs degrades with use, you want to keep the wear even. So if you plan on watching a lot of anything that isn't 16:9, you will either be best to stretch it or you might see a difference in the colours where the black boarders usually are.
