I'm sorry, but these "Market Share Statistics" are 100% propaganda and are designed to mislead you on the popularity of Blu-Ray.
Because Blu-Ray is a new format it has very little in the way of choice, no back catelogue, no budget movies, and a disproportionate number of movie collectors which skew the numbers when you look at market share on a per-title basis. Today I could walk into my local electronics store and pick up The Princess Bride on DVD, or pick up a $5 DVD when I go grocery shopping, and my movie sale is not calculated into the market share for DVD. Now, new-release movies account for a large portion of movie sales but they do not account for all movie sales, and they may not even account for most movie sales; if you want to make a claim that Blu-Ray accounts for 5% or 10% of DVD sales then either Blu-Ray has to account for a larger portion than that of new release titles or Blu-Ray should account for that percentage of movies which are currently unavilable in HD.
