im sorry but i dont ever listen to anyone who says DVDs are almost or are even close to Blu-ray

This really depends on your TV size and distance to screen. Upscaled DVDs look amazing on 720p Screens although you see some artifacts. BluRay is much better but its really your choice if you want to pay 2 times the price for it in Europe. For me it depends on the movie.

but its also in the sound.....

doubt it. Physiologically CD quality is enough for stereo sound. You will not hear higher bitrates etc. I am no expert for surround sound but I am pretty sure its similar there. Your sound system will make a MUCH bigger difference than any additional byte of audio information you get out of the bluRay disc.

DTS HD and 5.1HD is only on blu-ray and HD DVD... but i could be wrong but i went out with a sound expert friend and bought a surrond sound system that works with this "new" sound that blu-rays come with

Sony uses Uncompressed sound which is not on DVD

But if it is on DVDs i could be wrong. if someone can back that up then let me no.

But as far as i no now these are not done on a regular DVD. In fact all ive seen on DVD is 5.1 DD

Your right my sound system will make it better thats why i got it but it makes it better because it supports DTS HD and DVDs do not lol. if i am mistaken please let me now but i dont think i am.
