i heard there was some cheat to turn off the complexity meter, but the game will start to act weird, and it won't let you upload creatures to the sporepedia, so these creatures should have all used the restrictive complexity meter.
if you play around with the editor, you'll find that some parts, like the eyes and ears, eats up a crapload of complexity, while most detail parts don't use up much at all.
