Software wise, it's no more bleak than it was last year or the year before that. Developers announce new games all the time, and the PSP is going to feature constant and steady releases in America and Japan for the rest of the year.
Hell, software wise, I can't think of a single thing in the distant future the DS has to offer. Seriously, look at the line up for the rest of the year. Only the home consoles will be going uphill from here on out (software wise).
