@hasanraza: Neither Russia nor China get much oil from Iran, I don't know if they really care. Maybe they'd just sit by while watching the USA spend insane amounts of money on another war?
You're right that any invasion would be harder than Iraq's or Afghanistan's. An air strike would be easy though (and that will always be the first step, with USA air bases now surrounding Iran in Iraq/Afg.). The ramifications could be severe though, regarding oil, oil supply disruptions and reaction of the remaining middle east countries.
