it's an idealogical war. The US lost that war along time ago. The counterinsurgency field manuel states that once you lose moral authority you lose the war. America lost Moral authority when they started denial of habeus corpus to civilians, torturing detainees, and lying to the world about it. Go ahead and kill, detain, and torture more "terrorists" and claim that it's winning the war. The war is over and America lost.
