It's because reviewers nowadays refuse to reward games that are truly different. Always take the safe route on the generic games that further what is already being done. I would have liked to see LBP or PoP take it because it took more time and thought to create those games than Fallout 3 in my opinion. Would include Spore but it's already won this award haha.
