yah but i think everytime i've had a sony product, regardless of whether it survived or not, was definitely of the utmost quality. Even after getting a ps3 i was like, damn this thing is nicely polished all round, a lot of thought must have gone into it, even though before i was like 400$ is way too expensive.
same for my MD until ipod came and smashed pretty much every handheld audio device.
