I agree with those deriding the News of the World, however it is our best selling sunday newspaper so I wouldn't dismiss its opinions out of hand, a lot of people will agree with those comments and the opposing view will not be genuinely expressed in the newspaper.

Just as with the R:FoM church row. The church was interviewed on BBC News (another biased, populist 'news' organisation, which is disgracefully publicly funded through compulsory taxation, but don't get me started there), as were several mothers of murderers and their victims who all blamed violence in games, and so were groups against violence in video games. On the other hand no-one was interviewed supporting the opposing view (that games don't cause violence, that there are age ratings on games, and that people should be personally responsible for their actions etc.), and the statement issued by SONY was cut down to 1 line, which was effectively a mis-quote attempting to distort SONY's statement.

It was left to SKY News, a privately funded news organisation (by FOX iirc), who are under no obligation to report in the public interest, to actually read out the SONY statement in full and interview people which actually disagreed with the church.

I would say the BBC is a better source thn news of the world (!) and tbh, the Sony/church scandal didn't have much to do with the media (it was a legal case), whereas this is the media trying to get people stirred up against video games.

And for goodness sakes woman! It's not as if it has a mysterious "M" on the box, it's got a frickin "18" in a circle. Also, it's EXACTLY the same symbol as you find on films! So what? You thought films didn't have rating either?

I'm sorry to say, I now understand why my mum's home county get made fun of in the media...
