Some of these won't be so popular, but, here goes:

1. Female-centric games. No, I don't mean Lara Croft. Think: Lifetime. Yeah, that won't be very popular here, but devs will have to start catering to this growing audience. After roping in the young girls with those Babyz games, they'll need to keep up with them as they age. Like Chick-Flicks, but not. Dame Games, maybe? Sort of like romance novels, but interactive. Third-Person Fried Green Tomatoes FTW!!

2. Exploration games. When they released GTA4, I thought "how cool would it be to have an actual NYC simulator?" This wouldn't be gameplay-minded, really, more like virtual tourism. NYC(and other cities around the world) could kick in for some of the development out of their tourism budgets. The goal is pure realism to give an idea of what going to the city(doesn't have to be a city, either) would be like. Maybe learn the streets for a planned trip. Get the layout of MOMA or any other site. Kind of like a trip planner, but more. DLC could include snippets of upcoming events. Bars, restaurants, museums, etc would pay to have their establishments in-game as advertising.

3. Total immersion. This one's a bit off, but the pieces are starting to come together(albiet, in a sort of primitive state right now.) As an example, I'll use existing technologies, combined. A more advanced WiiFit Balance Board for walking. Dual Wiimotes(would actually be gloves) for hand motions(gripping, swinging, etc). PSEye for head and body tracking(ducking, turning, etc.) Voice recognition. The first game would probably be an Oblivion-ish first-person-something. That's more hardware than game, though.

4. Holodeck. 'Nuff said.

This is hard. It's pretty much all been done. I guess, they should just refine what they have now until someone does come up with that next big thing.
