Given the press conference blogging there (http://kotaku.com/5025033/liveblogging-square-enix-press-conference), it becomes very interesting.

Several things are confirmed:
- like I thought, SE doesn't believe that FFXIII is a system seller at all, as the reason they did that is because of install base
- FFXIII is partially saved, as it will have enough install base in the west. But it'll definitely see a big decline in Japan, as I doubt there'll be enough PS3 for it to reach the previous ones' sales
- They say the DVD format will obviously make the content different (understand poorer) from the BD, even if they don't want to make differences

Also, they say the localisation will start after the japanese release. Unless they delay the western PS3 release, there's no way the 360 port will be ready in time. Alienating their western Playstation audience by making them wait is a very bad thing to do, as that's alienating part of their audience of which they have not a lot already.
Logic would make them release the localised PS3 version before if the XB360 one isn't ready.
