Star Fox Adventures was a spin-off. If you were looking for a traditional Star Fox game then you obviously weren't paying attention to the years of media on it, or the front or back of the box. It was a good game for what it was. If you want to blame someone for ruining Star Fox, blame Namco for the bland Star Fox Assault and hope that Nintendo uses a better developer for the series next time like Artech Studios, the makers of Aces of the Galaxy.
My point also wasn't that Nintendo fans are like this because it's not coming to the Wii. They're always like this, even with Nintendo franchises. My point was that they're usually dead wrong each time. Wind Waker got trashed and turned out amazing. Metroid Prime was trashed and also turned out amazing. Mario Sunshine got trashed, and still gets trashed somehow, and yet it's quite an amazing game itself. In fact the whole Gamecube era was Nintendo fans complaining over everything Nintendo did, changed, left the same, etc. and some of that attitude has leaked into this generation unfortunately. Looking back, everyone now has fond memories of the GC but I remember how it was talked about at the time and it wasn't pretty.
The point is to give Banjo-Kazooie a chance at least. Keep an open mind about it because otherwise you'll be predetermined to hate it.
