There is a long track record of Nintendo making fairly minor changes to a series, and having Nintendo fans completely freak out ... In Nintendo's case, because the high quality and feel of the game is usually preserved, this usually doesn't have that big of an impact on the final product; but there are lots of companies who don't have the magic touch when it comes to these types of things and it has cost them dearly.

Nintendo fans do freak out before hand, like Wind Waker and Metroid Prime. Problem is, they usually look back on these games and recognize them as gems, while they horribly await the next drastic change the series takes. Looking back, Nintendo fans have been mostly wrong to be wary of these changes, so I don't take this backlash against Banjo too seriously. It was almost 10 years between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, the same as Banjo-Kazooie, and that series took a VERY drastic turn. To many people it's almost nothing like the Metroid of old, and yet it turned out fine.

 

well...did you forget to mention Starfox:Adventures for the GCN?....that was a rare game...they screwed the series hard

it's not because it's not coming to the Wii..it's just because I've lost faith in Rare...I loved perfect dark
