HALO 3 is a WASTE OF MONEY. All Halo 3 is is a $60 expansion pack. It can't hold a candle to Halo 2. I played Halo 2 like the entire gaming industry was going to stop the next week. Halo 3? I played for a month, then traded it in at GameStop.
I'm not saying you should get one machine or the other. In terms of potential, I'd say PS3. In terms of right now, 360 I guess. I still think the PS3 is a much better value at $400 than the 360 would be even at $300. Think about it..360 is $349 correct? So after you buy your wireless adapter, that's $449. After you pay for a year of XBL, that's $500. After you buy a controller charger, that's $550. With PS3, you get wireless built in, playing online is 100% free (minues map packs), and it comes chargeable. The only thing you'd want is a little longer of a USB cable to charge the controller, but the way I dealt with that was by using 2 controllers and just charging one at a time. Also, the XMB is 100 times more user-friendly than the XBOX Dashboard in my opinion, and the XMB moves 100 times faster. XBOX is supposed to be making changes though, but based on what I know of MS, they're going to make it look nicer, but it's going to be glitchy, it's going to work slow, they're going to have massive online issues when the new Dashboard update is released. Seems like every big update or huge release, things start going haywire. But hey..Vista turned out soooo good, why should we doubt the 360? =/
The PS3 also has Blu-Ray - which isn't a reason to buy it IMO, but it's a nice perk. And you can also use almost any headset you want as long as it's USB or BlueTooth.
I get a huge kick when people say the PS3 is more expensive. It's much cheaper. After 2 years, you'll have spent about $200 more on your 360 than you would a PS3, AND by that time PS3 will have much better games.
But, like I said, in terms of right now the 360 has the better library and larger online community. It depends on how long you want your console to last, and how worried you are that technical problems will arise.
