The online is still a blast for me and as far as changing things like how high you can jump etc etc. Pretty much any option can be changed via the forge or the regular game settings. For example if you want to jump higher you can decrease the gravity. The way the multiplayer works outside of custom games and forge is a party system. You and your friends can join up in a pregame lobby and then select matchmaking (or custom games/forge/theater). If you go with matchmaking the system will automatically find an opposing team that has a similar skill lvl in the playlist that you want to play in.
There are a lot of details to explain so if you need some answers to some more questions either post them here or you can send me a PM if you'd like. Mind you there are some ppl on here that feel Halo 3 was a letdown so try and read up and get as much info as you can b/f you make ur decision. I wouldn't want you to make a purchase and then regret it :)
