Makes sense.
They know Japan belongs to the Wii but they'll definitely be in 2nd as the 360 can't touch them there. In Europe they're beating the far cheaper 360 so it seems secure as well. NA is where the battle is*. They've had the momentum as of late but they want to keep it rolling and ensure MS doesn't fight back. And FPS are hot right now so the western crowd will eat it up.
My only problem is with the recent obsession at overcrowding the multiplayer arena. R2 is doing 60 players IIRC. MAG says 256. Hardware 2 wants 50 vs. 50 or 100 man FFA.
Call me outdated but I like the intimacy of a smaller 2v2 or 4v4. When you know everyone else playing at the moment and communicate well with them. I've spent hundreds of hours playing Halo 2 in such smaller settings and I hope we at least have the option to keep smaller team matches going.
*Edit - I meant the battle with the 360 is more heated in NA. Others seems to be where the hot battle for Wii vs. PS3 will end up.

The only people who have declared Sony the winner in Europe is Sony themselves. On this very website you're posting on, they still haven't shown to be caught up to the Xbox 360 yet in Others. In fact, when Sony announced they had passed the 360 in Europe, the general industry response from their competitor and from the gaming media was, "Has Sony checked the numbers recently?"
I'm not saying that they won't catch up in Europe, I'm just saying they haven't yet.

Ok, fair enough. I stand corrected. I'm looking at Others as a total and not specifically Europe.
But just to add to my above comments, I'm also sick of people saying that Sony owns the Japan market. Nintendo owns the Japan market. When you put everything in perspective, both HD consoles are selling like crap in Japan while the Wii sells like hot cakes. The 360 is only sitting at just above a half million units, which was to be expected. But the PS3 is only sitting at about 2.5 million units, and that is absolutely PATHETIC for a Sony console in Japan.
I simply do not accept people using the Japan market as an argument for the PS3's eventual dominance. It's simply ridiculous. In fact, it's almost as ridiculous as Sony and all the Sony followers claiming their dominance over the world when they're still in 3rd place. Don't tell me they're going to catch up and dominate the universe, thus rendering all other platforms "dead". I've been reading that crap since the PS3 launched, and if any of it had come true, the PS3 would have done all those things by now. It hasn't. Could it eventually? Yes. Will it? Probably, maybe not. Fanboys can't predict the future any better than "analysts".

I believe the idea with Japan is that there is at least the potential for strong growth for the PS3, whereas with the 360 there is little to none.
I'm actually curious as to how LBP will do in Japan.
