Way before the PS3 was released there were tons of articles in the internet ,made up by some autoproclaimed development gurus ,to prove the X360 was equal or better that the PS3.Most of those ,a couple of wich were taken as articles of faith by boxers to the point it was always linked and cited as a source ,were based on suppositions such as the RSX being a 7800GS (when it would be more akin to a 7950GX and better optimised due to the closed architecture) and made groos mistakes.
Both are great systems....for what I am seeing I would say the PS3 has some edge ,though. The BR gives space for tons of music and graphics and in some games as MGS4 it shows. The extra processing power is used for more objects and enemies in screen at once and better post-processing effects. The 360 seems to have some better AA in some games ,as always when comparing a Nvidia and Ati card ...but hardly noticeable for anyone other that a fanboy with magnifying glasses. And until the developers started to stream the textures on the PS3 games it still had some benefit due to the lower usage of memory of its OS(even with the shrinked use on the PS3 it still uses some 20MB more tha t the 360 OS).I think the first batch of multiplattform games when the 360 version was sometimes better is long gone, most multi games look the same or better on the PS3 although some direct ports from the 360 still look better on the 360 as it would be expected to happen. All in all I think some exclusive pS3 games as MGS4 ,Heavenly Sword ,Gran Turismo 5 Prologue ,Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank dont have an opponent of the same exact level on MS console. But ,both consoles are capable of very impressive displays of power.
