Geez, what's with that "OMFG FFVII PS3!!" hype lately...
That's most likely not it (FFVII remake)...but FF VII could be really smart "tactic". Think of such situation:
Sony: "m'kaay, we screwed up with FF XIII by giving it out to X360 also, BUUUUT....we will release FF VII remake exclusively (hopefully) for PS3!!!!11111one11"
People would forget about FF XIII anouncement.
