The low hardware and software sales coupled with the failure of UMD means that, when compared to certain people's expectations (Sony, Analyst, Publisher [EA], and fans) the PSP is a failure ...

 It sold more than many thought if I watch my words back from 2005 then I read that I said "it will sell around 30 million in 5 years of his existence.  What were the hardware sales of the Analysts?

 UMD is a failure strange that people think this could be a succes :s.

Personally, I remember many analysts and Sony fans claim that the PSP would surpass the sales of the GBA because it combined the popular Gameboy with the popular iPod; at the same time Sony defined it as the 'Walkman of the 21st century.' Even EA heavily supported the PSP and (basically) abandoned the DS because they believed the PSP was the safer bet.

UMD was expected to be popular (once again) by Sony, movie studios, analysts and fans ...

 Hmm yeah about the walkman part I have heard that to but that is typical marketing talk it would be strange
if Sony said we will not be the walkman of the 21 century :s;

UMD was still some kind of popular and I guess Movie studios made profit with it maybe Sony to I am not sure about that.   Strange that analysts thought it would be a succes :s.

I don't have many friends who are analysts but all the people I know said it will just be cool for some part of the market but it will never be super like Sony wanted it.
