It's the irony of her choice of words. I am not taking sides on the game. Just like with RE4, I see the problem and I don't care. It's a common over-zealous anti-male (who claims to be a feminist) thing to talk about cleaning up after men and calling them little boys. She gets all up in arms over "princess" and negative conotations of the male as the protector of the female, but then uses "boys" and uses an equally contraversial social stigma that men always need to be cleaned up after by women. The difference is that the game is meant in good humor, she means it to be hurtful.
There is some truth to both constructs of our society. Men are the ones who get to go check the noise and change the tire next to a dangerous highway and women are unfairly expected to clean up. It isn't a sociological study though, meaning feminism is irrelevant to the argument of whether the game is appropriate or not. These traits aren't inherent in every male and female. The game uses common archetypes to make the premise familiar. She uses these traits to demean. |
When I saw this thread I thought it might turn into some feminist bashing fest. But I'm glad to see that some people are smarter than that.
