 No hard drive is just a bad idea to begin with. Especially when they're trying to push things like DLC and such, not to mention the firmware and game updates. 

As for the rumor itself, I find it kind of funny. If they would want to have a cheap system sans some features on the market, I think the 20gig was perfect for that. Not only could you replace the hard drive if you ran out of space, but you can also get around the lack of memory card slots by transfering things via your USB flash drive from your PC. Then, coupled with the things they've implemented to cut costs such as the laser diodes, Emotion Engine, and other improvements to the hardware (ex, 65nm CPU), it would be perfect for a low cost unit without all the other features.

i dont really want ps3's on the market with no HDD's  i was just stating how its bad to keep coming out with different sku's.. trust me i've heard people say that with the 360 and ps3 alot.. "well whats the difference between the core and the premium.. does it play all the games or just some?" Ive heard people ask dumb questions like that all the time.. all these different models confuse people especially the casual..
