If you want traditional console gaming, buy a 360. It's got more RPGs, more FPSs, more racers, and more TPSs than the PS3. It's a little weak in the platformer dept. right now but so is the PS3. It also has a superior holiday lineup on the way IMO across a very diverse genre selection. It's the only system out today that has 5-10 great titles on shelves RIGHT NOW.

If you want something completely different than your previous console experiences, buy a Wii. There are several games on the horizon that should make one worth the purchase (though IMO, the game selection right now is rather weak unless you REALLY like party games).

Honestly, unless you're the type who wants Blu-Ray and is willing to wait until 2008 for a selection of games that will rival the 360 and you don't mind paying $500 for a console, I see no reason to buy a PS3. Wait until next year when it has the games and a $400 price tag.

Come to think of it, the Wii is the only console I would recommend buying today. The PS3 is still too expensive and  hardware update is coming to the 360 and a price cut is likely. I'd wait until September to buy a 360 and keep your ear to the ground about when the Falcon chipset is hitting shelves.
