of course the point is not here..... what i'm saying it's they can't allow sony to be the only one out there..... and zune is another problem.... that's just plain stupid to have done a MP3 player... they should have gone straight to a mobile phone...
PC as we know them won't last 50 years, you can mark my words.... being a software only company won't be enough.... without saying that open source on top of that might be also the way to go in the future.... so MS is in a situation where they have to be present on those market.... B to B is one end of the business they have that one.... but right now they are loosing on the other end... they better find a solution.... and the solution is not in the PC world..... people are always thinking 10 years ahead.... a company like MS can't have a so short term perspective.... they have to think about what is not even existing yet..... what is a drop today might be the bucket tomorrow that's the real point here......
the future how I see it and a lot of techno prophete too is you'll have a pocket PC to be mobile and a multimedia box at home... no more 3 PC in the house...
my point is if MS is in the console bizz it's not make VG only and not to piss off Sony there is a far bigger reason behind it....
