Scheduled for release on May 29, 2009, their next epic, Up, will hit the screens:
Pixar's next film, Up, is scheduled for release on May 29, 2009, featuring a slightly different plot (Wikipedia):
"Carl Fredricksen has spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But one day, Carl finds himself to be 78 years old and his life has seemingly passed him by, until he befriends a chubby 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. The two opposites match up for thrilling adventures as they encounter wild terrain, unexpected villains, and all the terrifying creatures that wait in the jungle."
What's this? No talking toys? No talking cars? No talking fish (as a premise, I mean)? No hidden societies or anthropomorphisms? Now obviously, the plot at the time is just about completely unknown. However, this little synopsis could possibly point to a different direction for Pixar, perhaps focusing on a far more character-oriented story. If that's the case, will this still have a fair shot at becoming Pixar's tenth consectutive smash?
While I doubt that (it being a differently focused film), one film coming down the pipe in 2011 has, despite the usual humanized non-human players, another odd feature:
"Newt and Brooke live in a community college science lab and don't care for each other, yet as the last remaining blue-footed newts on the planet they are forced to mate to save the species. "
O.K., that one sounds a little tangential, doesn't it? Then again, maybe it's just the wording. Perhaps they'll just be getting "married" in the film.
So these are coming up next (including Toy Story 3 in between). How are you're expectations?
Okami
To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made. I won't open my unworthy mouth.
