Whether dvd is needed or not isn't relevant. It's the overall gaming experience. Are you satisfied with your PS3 that has mandatory installs? if yes, then bluray is a good gaming standard. Are you satisfied that RPGs and cgi heavy games will require more than 1 dvd to fit in? if yes, then dvd is a good gaming standard. Both has up and down, dvd has less storage but will improve load times and other short falls of bluray, and bluray has more space but requires installs to obtain par with dvd gaming. Later with optional install available on the 360, games on DVD will probably be much better than blu-ray for loading and stuffs.
