I'll warn you, though, you'll need to follow they're rules when you're filling out an actual census, or when you're applying for tax stuff, or anything.

In NZ huge amounts of people cross out the options on the census form (something like New Zealand European) and write 'New Zealander' because they're sick of being labelled as European - when your family has lived in NZ for over 150 years you really aren't that European any more.
