E3 ‘08: Jack Tretton says “Home” May Be Two Years Away

In a recent sit-down interview with Engadget at this year’s E3, Sony’s Jack Tretton alluded to the fact that Sony is in absolutely no rush to release “Home.” When asked directly about where “Home” was in the development process, Ole Jackie Boy said that the problems have come from, “the disconnect of when Sony took Home out of the creative minds and put it the hands of business minds… but I would rather ship it two years from now with a lot of good stuff, than open it as some ghost town. We have to do a good job of populating it.”

Ouch, looks like PS3 gamers shouldn’t be holding their breath for a “Home” beta. Now don’t get all rabid fanboyish on this one. He didn’t say the release is in two years. He just said Sony is prepared to take their sweet ass time to make it awesome. If Home really does spend four years in development before it is released, it better be fucking good.
