The hell if I understand the motivations behind the companies :P I'm assuming that Fox would have received a payout from the HD DVD camp, maybe some kind of licensing benefits?
Just to make things clear, I'm not posting that information as an attack on Sony, I think MS and Sony are both ultimately evil organizations intent on raping our wallets, and there was I believe an inside source on the Fox payout that was slipped and then covered up quickly by Fox
