I have a set of the Bose noise canceling head phones though I can't tell you what model they are I can tell you they are great.
Their a few years old and they go through batteries fairly quickly but I love them. I use them all day at work and to keep me from spending a fortune in batteries I just keep a battery charger at my desk.
As far as the noise canceling goes, I can still hear people talking but all the other little stuff just completely goes away. There times though when I don't even notice people talking to me with those on though.
