I can understand your views on the PS3, but in all honesty, many of the unique selling points you mention may be moot for a PC gamer:

Again, the PC is the console to get if you are talking about kids, especially toddlers. The PC is the only platform that has a wide selection of EC (Early Childhood) titles to choose from.

The system also plays Blu Ray movies which are spectacular if you have an HDTV.
This point is very true, as even though I can buy a Blu-ray player/burner for a PC, the overall experience isn't as seamless. The cheapest Blu-ray for PCs still costs around 450 clams; having said that, it does burn Blu-rays as well, which the PS3 doesn't handle. I'm sure internal Blu-ray players will be much cheaper than that.

Apart from that, though, many of the USPs for the PS3 are simply irrelevant:

The Playstation 3 is the only console built to be future proof and for that reason it is the only console ready for Internet 2 with a 1Gbit ethernet port.
You know, when I bought my new PC recently, I chose an ASUS mainboard and they didn't even have options without Gigabit - my mainboard comes with two gigabits built-in, with wireless AP built-in as well.

Most of the other points you mentioned aren't even ready yet, so I still think those points about the PSN delivering downloadable movies is irrelevant, as it doesn't exist yet. You can, however, start downloading games and movies on a PC. Xbox Live also offers HD movie and TV downloads right now.

Edit: Not dissing the PS3 - just want to put things into perspective. The OP said he comes from a PC world and is looking for a completely different experience, and honestly, the points you mention simply aren't very compelling from a PC gamer's perspective.

While I may agree, Your Mother, let's not get in to system criticisms here. That would quickly devolve into flame wars, I suspect.

Instead, let's all pitch our systems and leave everyone else to pitch theirs. If you feel that this is a downside of the PS3, point out the upside of the Wii instead. For example, pitch the Wii by saying: "It's very unlike the PC experience, so if you're looking for something completely new and distinct, pick the Wii!"

I think that would be a fair pitch.

I don't think it's invalid criticism. I think that the OP wanted a "completely different experience", and I honestly fail to see how the 360 or PS3 can deliver on that account.

I also did mention that the OP should not expect anything remotely decent compared to the PC's graphics if he plans to get a Wii. That is what I would consider a pretty negative downside to the Wii, especially if the PC gamer is used to knockout graphics.

Your mother -- again, I agree with your assertion! Read my post. I'm not arguing with your premise, just your approach. This thread is about pitching your preferred console to the original poster. Instead of phrasing your pitch in the form of a criticism of other people's posts, I suggest you frame it in your own post, pitching this as one of the Wii's strengths, instead of one of the PS3's weaknesses. I'm aware those go hand in hand, but it would be nice to both keep this thread on topic (pitching your preferred console, not criticising other people's preferred consoles) while simultaneously remaining positive and upbeat.
