I've never really played any ratchet, jak or sly cooper games so i'm not really an expert in platformers but i always thought platform games should be simple. From what i always thought, rachet and clank's innovation lies with the unique and crazy weapon inventory and as long as they continue to create more unique weapons and ways to control them, this game should be good in my book. This is one of those games that don't need an overhaul in gaming experience, there doesn't need to be a cover system, over-the-shoulder aiming, insane realistic physics engine or complicated combo system. Ratchet has always been built on a foundation, cartoony platforming with many unique weapons at your disposal. Isn't that what insomiac is doing??? The Ratchet and Clank series does not need to prove new innovations or gameplay to the audiance for 2 simple reasons.
1. R&C has sold multi millions and already has a big fanbase with no real complaints of anykind of overhaul (how would people feel if they added cover systems and 3rd person gameplay to Halo??)
2. The foundation of the game (the unique and numerous weapons appeal) that made the game what it is today and sell well, is still there and focused on.
