The only console that can possibly offer you a different experience than the PC is infact the Wii. (I am trying so hard not to talk about the other consoles right now...)
Game developers have constantly stated that the Wii doesn't try to be a PC replacement because there is no such thing. If you can afford the hardware prices then no console can keep up. The Wii is in a completely different arena than the PC and the other consoles.
As Reggie has stated, if all you want is next gen then you shouldn't buy the Wii because the Wii doesn't offer just next. Instead it's apsolutely new.
We are now seeing gameplay advances that have never been possible on a regular console that came with a pad. People enter into the Wii so open mindedly that developers are ready to take risks like never before. So the spectrum of gameplay isn't even limited to FPS, RPG, Sci Fi, etc. Now we can go into Lightgun, motion sensing, Balance Sensing, and possibly 1:1 controls. You need something new? You need a Wii.
