Let me say I considered posting this in the another thread, but far too often once any thread on these forums works its way to the second page the subject has already been derailed, hijacked, or has turned into idiot bubble wrap babble. Where the singular goal seems to be burst the other guys bubble, because you can insinuate a one line statement is wrong. Honestly I wanted to share something that ocurred to me, and not have it end up buried at the ass end of nowhere. Which is what happens with about any profound thought that finds its way to the second page. Anyway review this thread if you so desire.

Am I the only one who sees the inherint stupidity in having a press conference or a portion of one directed at persons who are not even in attendance in any capacity. Let alone discussing what a group who did not watch the show thought about the show, and how well the show influenced a group of people who did not pay attention to begin with. By now your head should be spinning slightly counter clockwise, and perhaps clockwise if your somewhere south of the equator.
The stupidity I am refering to is call it casual, mainstream, or parent. Who actually beleives sincerely that these people in some form watched the conferences at E3. I distinctly doubt that they were in attendence. In fact I do know who was in attendance mostly virtually, and that would be hobbyists. The distinct opposite of someone with only a casual interest. Only hobbyists will placate themselves with hours of mind numbing conferences wading through dozens of announcements they are hardly interested in half filled with dread that they would miss out on an announcement about something, and might gasp be fifteen minutes behind everyone else.
This is all beyond moronic everyone forgot what made these people distinctly different from core and hardcore gamers. Gaming for them is a slight diversion. These people for the most part know as much about gaming as most of us know about the fine art of making cheese. They usually buy what the commercial tells them to buy, or what their friend recommends. So explain to me this how are these people to know a conference is going on, and thus how could they even go looking for it on television or the internet. Let alone how could any company catch their attention with all the terribly tedious announcements.
These people are really imaginary. Yet we have analysts talking about how the conferences sold them on something. Then we have manufacturers carving out peices of their show for this particular demographic. Seriously we were all snubbed at this years E3 in the name of selling something to imaginary people. What is really disturbing is that it doesn't seem to have ocurred to anyone that casual players are probably the people least likely to watch if they know anything is going on at all.
I think I have had a major gaming epiphany or a minor aneurism. There is little doubt that the manufacturers talking to their imaginary friends is part of what disappointed us with the conferences as a whole, and with Nintendo in particular. Think about how really demented this really is. Over ninety nine percent of those watching these conferences were hobbyists, and they made all of us stand around for some length of time as they played with their imaginary friends. Should we all feel a little snubbed about this. Especially those who watched the Nintendo conference. I mean they were completely snubbed, and threated like second class friends by Nintendo.
What are your guys thoughts was this whole casual marketing nonsense just really that. A lot of supposedly smart people doing something really stupid in concert?
