It doesn't cost that much to include backward compatibility. They already have the software running on the soon to be extinct 80 gigs. Yes, they do make money on the PS2, but sales are going down and the lack of backward compatibility for most PS3s has hindered sales. So a good point is that too many people are buying PS3s and loading up on PS2 greatest hit games. Thus not making the royalty money that Sony is used to. I mean, do you think graphics are enough to spend $60 on Madden for PS3 or $40 on Madden for PS2? That's a lot of money to pay for usually less options, only better graphics.

He said it better then I could have. Sony isnt taking out BC to save the PS2's Hardware sales, its doing it to Save the PS3's Software sales. Too many people are buying PS3's which Sony looses money on, and then not buying PS3 games, which Sony makes money on, but PS2 games which Sony makes much less money on. So take out the BC and people have to buy PS3 games for their PS3 and help Sony recoup their losses.
I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"
"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"
