Regardless, it seems as if the PS2 is cannibalizing sales from the PS3. Just how much, and what the balance is between maximizing cash flow for the entire gaming division at Sony, is unknown.

hmmm....$130 for a brand new ps2, $400 for a brand new ps3, how is the ps2 canibalizing ps3 sales again?

PS2 owners aren't moving up in very appreciable numbers. They are staying put or moving on to something else. Simple.

The question isn't $130 for a brand new PS2 or $400 for a brand new PS3. It's more like "I've already got a PS2 and there's compelling software coming out that I like (perhaps Singstar, GH:III or Rock Band) for the PS2... do I need another machine that doesn't play the software I enjoy?"

The question is how large this effect is and whether Sony was calculating on this effect when they took out BC.
