My rents have a 46" sharp aquos. I'm in love with it. Very sharp colors, and very fast for an LCD (mitigating a Plasma advantage). Also, if you check around you can get last years model within your price range. I saw it at sears one time for $1899. If you don't mind buying online, it's been on amazon.com for $1799 + $179 for shipping. Also, if like me you decide that you don't really need 1080p (since you'll only get 1080p with blu-ray or HD-DVD), and you have the space, my new plan is to get a front projector. Amazon.com has a mitsubishi model that's 720p and has gotten good reviews for $850. Add in the $100 screen and you are at half the price and several times the screen size.
