Fun fact: Old Snake is loosely based upon actor Lee Van Cleef.

Old actor, so for those who aren't familiar with the name, he had two co-starring roles in Sergio Aragones' spaghetti Westerns with Clint Eastwood. And he played a ninja master in a TV show creatively titled "The Master."

And of course, Lee Van Cleef was also in Escape from New York as Hauk, the police commissioner who "recruits" Snake.
