SE- "Absolutely but you are only getting a port

i guess it could be considered a port... in the same sense that the ps3 version is a port.

SURPRISE!!!

the 360 version is going to be a direct port of the ps3 game!

developed for ps3 ported to 360.

Nope, like the PS3, the 360 version will be a port from the PC, if not, why all the trouble making the Cristal tools???

Look when I say port, I mean that FF13 is being developed with the ps3 capabilities and specs in mind. After that the 360 version is getting the version that the ps3 is getting so long as the framerates hold out.

I'm sorry you don't understand what "port" means. But theres the definition, pretty much.

EDIT: It's also funny that crystal tools was developed for cgi manipulation, as it can process scenes to movie calibur.

Credibility: It's gone once you say something that can be proven wrong.

@obieslut

Why? historian makes my understanding sound like a dug up artifact. Sociologist is more like it. :)

I´m sorry but you are wrong again... FF13 is not developed to take full use of the PS3, is developed from the PC and the port it the PS3, the same goes with the 360, I´m really sorry that you can´t understand this, but try to research more about the WhiteEngine/Crystal tools and you will find it, they are not going for optimization on one platform they are aiming for easy and cheap multiplat developtment and this can only be achieved when you left out a big chunk of especialized code...

Again, once the game is finished, it will be ported to the PS3 (I´m no surprised if they are constantly porting the game in order to check that all is going like they want), realeased on Japan, and then making the translation and port to the 360 (Easier and more clean like all the devs have stated before)...

Cristaltools = middleware to port from the PC to console... I´m really sorry that you really don´t know what are you talking about but and since a lot of people here have prove you wrong, I shouldn´t be surprised...

Edit: And just to show it to you...

"SAN FRANCISCO -- 'Crystal Tools' is the new name of Square Enix's company-wide 3-D game development engine, and it'll support Wii.

At Game Developers Conference, Taku Murata, GM of Square Enix's research and development division, announced the new name and more details on the multiplatform development tools, originally called "White Engine."

Although "White Engine" was originally announced in 2006 as a PlayStation 3 game creation platform, it has since become multiplatform, including Xbox 360 and PC capabilities."

"Murata explained the new technical direction of the company for the new generation of gaming platforms. "This is the first time Square Enix has made a technology platform that could be used across the entire company."

The platforms being targeted are PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC, although he noted that "some of our technologies support Wii. It's not 100% yet, so that's why I didn't put it up [on the slide] yet." He noted that in the past, Square Enix has made games specifically for one platform. However, that's not what they're interested in pursuing in the future. "In the past that approach, that worked and at the time I believe that was the right approach."

Currently, the Crystal Tools engine is being used for Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and a new MMORPG . Unfortunately, no other details could be provided for any of these three projects."

1:15 - FF XIII is being developed using the Crystal Tools engine, which will be used for Versus, and the MMORPG.

1:20 - Reminding people that, hey, they've done multiplatform stuff using the Crystal Tools before. FF XI anyone?

1:24 - Turns out the answer is "It's hard to explain, but we're doing it." To clarify (thanks cute clarification lady!) they're building it on a PC, for the PS3 then will be working on porting to 360.

There you go, building it on a PC, then port it to the PS3 and then will be ported to the 360 by a different team...

By the way:

Porting is the process of adapting software so that an executable program can be created for a computing environment that is different from the one for which it was originally designed.

So, it is build on the PC, put in on the PS3 would imply a port...
