Heh. The effect is not entirely different from what the Waichowsky brothers made for the Matrix, it's true. Indeed, the model of the Matrix is basically that of dreaming, though I can't say for sure if that's what they were after when they made it. Neo is basically a dreamer who gains ever-increasing control of the dream-world Matrix, then goes lucid.
