Some are a little paranoid about wearing out their DVD drives, but again, the switch to the BenQ drive sorted out most of these problems.

Also consider that when using DVD functions, the drive is not spinning at 12x speeds as it is during game loads/access. It's typically loafing along at 2x speeds.

No audio from DVDs? What kind of connection are you using? HDMI or the component cables that came with the system? Optical output or standard RCA output?

Are you running direct to your TV or through a receiver? HDTV or SDTV?

Lots of questions, but it depends on your set up.

The only time I have audio output problems via HDMI is when I don't switch input sources (via a HDMI port switcher) before powering up my console, but this effects all sound, not just movie playback.
